Our products are carefully selected from only the highest quality materials and we offer the most competitive price for wooden shutters. The advantage of being a small family run business is we will deliver and install your shutters free of charge because we can afford to do so unlike big companies.
Some window shutter retailers supply the same product like ours, however being a small family run business, with a knowledgeable small team sets us apart from our competitors. The price for new wooden shutters will depend entirely on the size of window and the product that is chosen. With so much variation between materials and design, it is impossible to estimate the cost of a product without first determining the measurements for the height and width of your windows. Prices are based on the square meter size of your window and the options you choose, such as custom colours, hidden control rods, blackout, battens etc.
The best way to find out how much shutters will cost is to take some rough width and height sizes including picture of your window if possible and email them to us so we can provide a rough estimate.

Yes, we send a fully trained consultant to your home to assess, measure and discuss your shutter requirements. This visit is free of charge and without obligation. However, we ask that your windows are finished with sills, architraves and plastering or tiles before we visit the site.
The Surveyor is a fully qualified carpenter who will also fit your shutters when they are ready to be fitted. We do not use any middle-man/ salesman which enable us to keep our cost very low which makes us very competitive in the market. Contact us now for an estimate.

If you have changed your windows though adding architraves, double glazing or simply changing the windows it is unlikely that the shutters will still fit. Please contact the sales team to discuss and arrange a new survey – please note if you change your windows we cannot guarantee the shutters will fit if you still go ahead with your order.

2. If survey needed, we will make an appointment at a time that suits you with our qualified surveyor (weekend appointments available)
3. We will then send you a quote ASAP and answer any questions you have.
4. Once you are happy with your quote, you can then place your order by paying the required down payment. Your order will be sent to factory and go into production ASAP.
5. The shipping company will send us an ETA as soon as your order is ready to be shipped. It is usually between 12 and 14 weeks for custom shutters and a bit longer for the specific bespoke products once it goes into production not from date you placed your order.
6. We will get in touch with you to give you your ETA (please bear in mind it is subject to change as it is just an estimated date not an exact date).
7. Once we have your shutters delivered to us, we will contact you to book a suitable fitting date.
8. Your custom made-to-measure shutters are professionally fitted for you and the remaining balance is due on completion day.

There are many reasons in which plantation shutters can increase the value of your home. Plantation shutters make a great first impression and might result in an offer much faster than a home that has more outdated window treatments. They add a rich elegance to a home, are like a jewellery for your windows, a permanent feature which will not need replacing when selling your property and appealing to potential home buyers.

Many windows, especially those in older houses, can be imperfectly shaped. Where this is the case, we simply fit the shutters using small side battens or frames to provide the best fit possible.

Yes, plantation shutters are extremely versatile and able to be installed on most windows. Shutters can be installed on virtually any window, French door or sliding patio doors because they are made-to-measure solution and plantation shutters are now available on the market from a range of materials that makes them perfect for almost any home environment.

Bespoke wooden shutters generally take between 10-12 weeks to arrive, from order date to port delivery date. We update you during that time to let you know how the process is coming along, to communicate the estimated week of arrival and to arrange a suitable fitting date. We will install them ASAP within few days of receiving them as we do not have anywhere to store them for longer than a week.

While our lead time is currently 10 to 12 weeks, and we have built in some contingency to avoid disappointment – given the zero Covid policy in China, it might be that production or transportation of goods from that part of the world become delayed outside of our control.

Your shutters are guaranteed for 5 years from the point of installation. This includes any quality issues on the shutters. We warrant that our shutters will be defect free in materials or workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns the shutters provided that such products were properly installed; and such products were made or
assembled exclusively from original materials and components. This warranty does not cover any condition of or damage to the shutter or window, from unauthorized repairs,
accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse, wear and tear, installations, cleaning or maintenance. Improper, inappropriate or unauthorized replacement parts, repairs or maintenance voids this warranty.
This warranty excludes all liability for removal of the shutter and reinstallation in the same or another window, or damage to the window frame, glass or any other portion of the window.
Colour Fastness – 5 years, Hardware – 1-year, Stainless Steel Hardware – 5 years.
Any resale or other transfer of the product and/or materials voids this warranty.

Our shutters are designed to be almost maintenance-free. Remove all surface dust and grit with a feather duster, vacuum cleaner or using a damp soft cotton cloth or baby wipes to remove any stains. Never use abrasive materials or detergent- and solvent-based cleaners such as thinners as these may damage the powder-coated finish of your shutters.

Plantation Shutters are one of the best window dressing for controlling light in a room and can create a very dark environment when fully closed. On their own, our shutters will match an average pair of curtains in the amount of light they will stop coming into your bedroom. But upgrade to the ‘blackout’ option and you can achieve almost total darkness.

You can order black out blinds when ordering your shutters. You can ask our surveyor to show you samples and pictures to give you an idea of what they look like and how they operate.

When buying shutters, the most important option is the louvre size which is often a personal preference. The larger louvre offers a greater view by opening the viewing area of the plantation shutter. Your home architecture will also have an impact on which louver slat size you should choose. By far, the top-selling shutter louver size is 76mm. It seems to be the most common choice because it’s somewhere in the middle of slat louver sizes.

Our shutters are FSC certified Paulownia hardwood and provide a premium finish. As the hardwood has a lovely grained texture it can come in a range of colours. They can be used on bays, doors and shapes, be cut around tiles or skirting board and have a much wider choice of frames, colours and options. At Craftsmen shutters, we are all about quality and finish so it’s wood all the way.

With most UPVC windows the best way to fit is to fix the shutter frame to battens that you fit inside the window recess. These form a sub-frame around the window, but most importantly move the actual shutter doors away from the window so that you can adjust the louvers without them hitting your window handles.

Every order is custom-made to your precise measurements at the time you place your order. As a result, we cannot accommodate returns, modification or refunds.

We do everything in our power to ensure that the shutters you receive will arrive in perfect condition and that you will have a hassle-free installation. Human error is natural and measurements can be misread, mistyped into the system or the factory could make to the wrong size by mistake looking at the number of orders they have to deal with every single day. However, with our supply and fit service, if something does go wrong we will sort it out. In the event of transit damage or if there is a quality issue from manufacturing, we are delighted to offer a “no quibble” free replacement.
In the unlikely event of an unsuccessful installation, we will reorder all outstanding Goods via sea shipment and re-install as quickly as possible. We pride ourselves on our customer recovery and can assure all customers that any problems will be fixed as per our 5-year guarantee.

We accept cash or bank transfer to our company account. A deposit should be paid before any carpentry work can commence or before we can place an order for your shutters. Full payment is due upon completion of the job. We require approx. 50% to 70% (depending on the bespoke nature and size of order) of the payment up front at the time of placing the order. The remaining balance is due on the day of fitting your shutters.
